7-27-16 Summer Fishing Report

Posted by James Harris on

Beaver Creek:

Ants, Beetles, Japanese Beetles, Hoppers and Crickets are fishing well. If any of these aren't getting any looks, try dropping a zebra midge or scud off of a big foam terrestrial.

Upper Potomac River:

Smallmouth fishing is on! The water has been really warm but it's still fishing well. Murdich minnows, Mighty Minnows, Gamechangers, Clousers are all getting the job done in chartreuse, white, silver and firetiger colors for minnow patterns on ledges and tailouts. Crayfish drifted under an indicator is a good way to target the riffles and heavier water. Foam divers, stealth bombers and poppers in white, yellow, orange and chartreuse are a must have for fish eating on top or busting minnows. If you're interested in a guided trip, I would highly recommend booking now.

Big Hunting Creek:

Water is low and fish are super spooky. Ants and beetles on top. Go to the Savage, Beaver Creek or the Gunpowder if you have a choice.
